Welcome

Community Knowledge in North Carolina (CKNC) is a project dedicated to the research and study of African American local history across the state. When possible, the project will prioritize working with community members to preserve African American local history in addition to sharing archival-based research.

CKNC is an outgrowth of work completed through the Community Driven Archives Initiative at UNC-Chapel Hill and the Archival Seedlings Program. The project is still in the early stages of development and will evolve as work progresses.
